Wuthering Heights

On his way home, Mr. Earnshaw, the owner of the estate “Wuthering Heights,” finds a lonely orphan on the road. Thus, Heathcliff gains a home, a family, and a close friend — he and Catherine, the owner’s daughter, become inseparable. After Mr. Earnshaw’s death, the house is inherited by Hindley, Catherine’s brother. Having felt hostility and jealousy toward Heathcliff all his life, Hindley allows the boy to remain at the estate only as a servant. The only thing that brightens his days is the time he spends with Catherine.
